Open Question: Design courses help?

I came to Australia to study a design course, and without much thought, I went into a course called Graphic Arts. I understand there are differences between Graphic Arts & Graphic Design, off enough, they don't offer Graphic Design for Diploma, am I on the right track? I wish to do Graphic Design in general, but I also love to do TV commercials.

I wonder what does that involve if I were to venture into that field? Does it involve me to film commercials, edit films? or what? I love to think of an idea, but not into filming & editing. I've learnt alot of softwares, except for Flash, because I hate editing those stuff that much.

Questions are:
1. Is Graphic Arts like "Business" (business covers things like finance, accounting, banking, etc etc) that covers everything in general about design?

2. Am I on the right track?

3. If I were to go into TVCs, what am I supposed to expect in school & when I work?
4. Is there like a private lesson in the states where I should but not a must do so when I look for a job in the future, they'd see that as a big bonus? You know courses like where people in the industry critique your work and you get like 10 or more briefs to work on where you can also build your portfolio with?
About question #4, I know some in Australia & Asia, but because I would go to the states soon, I'd love to know what's there that's similar. Thanks in advance!

Open Question: I could cost a company $120K (serious responses please)?

I work at company ABC. At ABC I'm in charge of a program that manages communication with about 129,000 customers that is made by company XYZ, which cost ABC almost 130K to purchase. I'm regularly in contact with my account manager at XYZ to keep this program functioning properly for ABC.

Recently my company, ABC, is looking to stop using XYZ's product. ABC has said (unbeknownst to anyone at XYZ) that "we are speaking to attorneys to get out of our contract with XYZ."

I do not agree with this. Honestly I think it would be completely detrimental to ABC to move away from XYZ's product. The product that we would be moving to is much more complicated to use, and only a select few of highly trained employees could use it. (We'd have to call them any time we needed some information from the system).

XYZ's product is intuitive easy to use, etc. But it was very expensive and has had some "growing pains", as any new software would, and recieved a lukewarm welcome when we first got it.

Recently I've become aware of ABC's asinine business practices. In my opinion it is going absolutely no where, I have little to no opportunity for advancement, pay isnt that great, and I'm looking for another position.

As I am constantly in contact with my account manager, I have submitted my resume to XYZ because I am the sole point of contact for their product at ABC, and I believe that I'm a viable candidate.

What are the legal ramifications if I alert XYZ to ABC's plans? Could that possibly ruin my chances of being hired? What if I just don't say anything and let ABC pursue legal action, would I still be ruining my chances?

In addition to answering this question, I'm also looking for opinions on the situation. What do you think?

Im a computer programmer that loves to play on habbo. so much so that I have made a hacking software the can hack credits. There is a catch but. LOL. You can only use it once and once only on an account and i used it on mine. So i need your help. What my software does is, when you go into your habbo account, your pc gets logged in to the main habbo computer. That is what determines what gives you furni and credits.ect. My program traces the link between the link and let you control the habbo computer. There is a limit per account you can take however. The max is 999 credits. I do however ask you to give hottie-boi123(me) a piece of furni from the credits you get. Doesnt matter for the value.

Open Question: 10 POINTS!! Networking/admin problems... Am I have been blocked??

Recently, my Yahoo messenger could not connected to the internet.. I've tried lots of my yahoo account but its still the same... I thought it was the ym problems so i ignore it.. But in the same day, my ie also could not be connected.. Am I being blocked by my admin (in the same network)?? Because I also can't download using any internal downloader like McAfee Download Manager. But the confusing things is my firefox works just fine. Also any of my online games.. The GameSpyArcade also works fine.. When I try to run the 'Diagnose Connection Problems with IE7 it says 'Your Windows could not connected to the internet. I have turned off the firewalls and do not have any anti-virus software. Is my admin blocked me or there are virus that infected my pc?? Are there somethings that I could do to prevents this problems instead of formatting the hard disk?? Any answers would be very very appreciated!!

Open Question: How do I use my www.ipoddownloadspro.com membership? How do I find and download songs on this site?

I signed up for an account on ipoddownloadspro.com, and paid for my membership. I have not been able to figure out how to search for and download songs (or anything else).

When I click on "members login" I am able to login to an area with some software (such as programs for backing up DVDs to the computer). There are no links to the main downloads page.
When I click any of the search options from the main ipoddownloadspro.com page, I am taken to a page encouraging me to sign up for an account. I already have an account!

Does anyone know how to search for movies, music, or anything on this site? The only things I have been able to do with this membership are download DVD backup programs and get to a page encouraging me to sign up for a membership that I already have.

Open Question: My Enemy Territory Quake Wars account wont work. Please Help!?

Well just recently i have been playing Quake Wars quite a bit and i have made my own profile, gotten heaps of medals, yada, yada, yada and i noticed my computer was going really slow. so i copied the save game directory in My Documents, the one labeled with "Id Software" and copied to my memory stick. I totally wiped my computer clean and started over. After which i had installed Quake Wars again and copyied the folder into My Documents again and updated it.

But now this is where im stuck. when i run the game it askes me to choose a profile. None of which are their, i just get a blank screen! so i make a new account and fidled around a bit and i cant get my old profile to work!

I used the forgotten user link but that doesnt work! i put in my CD-Key and it takes no more than 2 seconds of searching then stops. nothing happens! i am really stuck and need some serious help, so if you know anything that might assist please notify me!

My husband is attending school for web design and wants us to buy a new laptop because the ones we have are both very old and close to being unusable. Here's something that always makes me wonder. I'm in Canada, but I suspect the situation is similar in many countries.

I do almost all my banking online and with financial software. I pay my bills 3 or 4 days before they are due, (as recommended by both parties) through pre-arranged payments directly from my bank account. So let's say I arrange to pay my Visa on Jan 26. In Jan 26, that money obediently comes out fo my account. On Jan 29, the money shows up in Visa.

Where did it go in the interim? I actually created a fictitious account in Quicken to keep track of the missing money for those three days, so my balances work. But where is the money, and who is collecting the interest? In every transaction, I'm sure the value of the interest would be fractional pennies. but over the whole banking industry, it must amount to massive sums.
Anybody able to explain where the money sits between withdrawal and deposit?

Open Question: Whats the Statue of limitations for selling pirated software illegally?

Two years ago, I sold about 50-100 copies of DVDFab platinum along with 3 other burning programs. I know it was dumb and illegal, but I did it to help me get out of credit card debt. I got several warnings from eBay, but I still kept on selling. I finally got my account suspended by eBay and it took me 4 months to get reinstated. Since then I have not sold anything illegal on Ebay. Can I still get arrested or sued for selling illegal copies. Whats the worse that could happen to me or being caught after two years when the crime was committed? Please no rude comments, I have learned my lesson and don't plan on doing it again, I even picked up a second job, so I can pay the remainder of my debt off. Thank you.

However, they are expensive and do not offer a way to take credit cards face to face or over the phone.

Open Question: decode password to my yahoo mesenger- by using registry files?

Hi, to make a long story short, I changed my password last month because someone told me they hacked my computer. I dont remember my password (on my work account). Last week my computer crashed, since my password was saved and I dont remember it, i thought i was out of luck. (my boss made my id and password so he didnt use my real b-day so i cant press "forgot password").

I recovered my old hard drives registry and restored it to a test computer. I then install yahoo and since the reg. is restored, my password is saved there. Since the entire registry was replaced, obviously things dont run smooth- it was just to be able to sign on though.

I was able to backup the reg folder HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\pager and on my new working hard drive I deleted the pager folder then restored that folder from my test computer. When I do that, my password is saved again on my new drive and all my apps work just fine. Can I decode the password from the reg now? Any help is appreciated!

This is for a game I'm working on, for the Xbox 360, using XNA.

An object (in this case, a space ship) exists in 3D space. It has X, Y, and Z coordinates and X, Y, and Z rotation.

I need to determine the formulas to calculate the X, Y, and Z movement based on the object's orientation if it were to exert forward thrust.

The sample (given at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb203896.aspx) only shows how to calculate it if you can rotate along the X axis. Here is the code they provide:

I need similar formulas, taking into account rotation along all 3 axis: X, Y, and Z. Unfortunately, I'm pretty bad at math for a software engineer. Can anyone help?

hey i was just wondering if there is any software out there to select software to backup.
i know its hard because software installs in lots of locations such as program files, user settings, local settings, account settings, registry keys and entries and system32 and windows folders etc... but there is software to backup data and hardware to backup data and also software to backup drivers so why would there be software to backup software. im not talking about backup the whole hard drive. or copying a folder across. i mean select the software you wanna transfer example old pc transfer office 2000 to new pc. just an example or . myob from old pc to new. lots of people dont have there cds or disks and think if i cant do it why upgrade. this is the problem im having and need either software or hardware to backup selected software programs so they work like before. im not talking about cloning or anything like that. its about saying i want this this and not that and transfer or wateva any1
